AUSTRALIA  - the movie

See the exciting trailer for this family movie which will be released on 13 Nov 08. Expect to see a big worldwide marketing campaign from September on. Tourism Australia and 20th Century Fox have high expections for this movie which will have drama, danger, love and and unforgettable scenery. The movie is still in post production and is expected to be a strong contender for the Oscars in 2009.  Loosely described as a romantic modern day Gone With the Wind this could be the movie directed by Baz Luhrmann Australia has been waiting for with a stellar cast including Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, David Wenham, Jack Thompson and many other Aussies.  Filmed in Queensland, NSW, Northern Territory and Western Australia.   We will be announcing a special event for the opening very soon. WOLVERINE on location

Residents of Glebe might have been a little startled if they spotted the bulked up hairy Hugh 'Clawman' roaming the streets during the filming of this monster movie which has now finished on location!  Not to fear, he was kept under wraps in one of the local parks on a dark, dark night..... Hugh was successful in combining with 20th Century Fox to get this movie filmed in Sydney and New Zealand with his own production company. Another location is the fascinating Cockatoo Island.  Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts partner, also features.

 

MAO'S LAST DANCER

This promises to be a movie with a very interesting storyline. An 11yr old boy from rural China was taken to Beijing to study ballet.  On a cultural exchange to Texas in 1979 he fell in love with an American woman.  Two years later he defected and went on to perform as principal dancer for the Houston Ballet and as a principal artist with the Australian Ballet. This movie is currently being filmed in Sydney.

It's not every tour we can celebrate a special occasion but recently a fine performance was given by Ken as he proposed to his special girl Melanie in the middle of Martin Place during the tour.  Very best wishes to both of you and a happy future together.

 


 Cate Blanchett    What a year for this brilliant actress - Oscar nominations, a new baby boy called Ignatius, Government spokesperson for the Arts and juggling it all with her new role as Artistic Director of the Sydney Theatre Company. STC has launched and fostered the theatre careers of many of Australia's internationally renowned artists including Mel Gibson, Judy Davis, Hugo Weaving, Miranda Otto, Geoffrey Rush, Toni Collette, Rose Byrne and Cate Blanchett.  

 

Bollywood comes to Sydney

Bollywood continues its film affair with Sydney with the next movie  called "Victory" all about cricket  and will feature some Aussie cricketers in action.  

 

Baby Boom for Aussie Stars

The producers for 2008 ! - Toni Collette, Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman. These fine actors are lining up a new generation and movies for this year.   Toni has a girl Sage Florence and is off to the USA to film a TV series after two recent releases, The Black Balloon and Hey Hey its Esther Blueburger.  Cate is already carting young Ignatius around the world and is appearing in the new Indiana Jones movie, this time as a Russian. Her roles are certainly varied. Nicole's baby Sunday Rose is starting life on the ranch in USA.

 

Superman Returns

The Superman tour is for all ages as anyone can be  Superman on our tours ! Have fun whilst role playing some of the movie characters, visit the locations where the stars performed and hear all about the last big blockbuster to be made in Sydney. Superman can turn quite a few heads strolling through the streets of Sydney !
